Greetings Bay Point Elementary families,
It’s important to give back and show your child(ren) that their education is important. One of the simplest ways to do this is by volunteering at our school.

Ms. Johnson (School Office Clerk/Family & Community Liaison) has asked me to remind families that in order to help ensure the safety of our students, anybody planning to help out during school hours (8:35am-2:35pm) must be registered as a volunteer. This includes those of you volunteering inside the classroom, helping our staff in the front office/media center, and/or chaperoning during an upcoming field trip.

For more information on how to register as a volunteer, please click HERE.

Are you already a registered volunteer, but you haven’t yet reactivated your volunteer status for the current school year? If so, then you must do so before December 1st. Otherwise, your information will be deleted from the system.

Reactivating your volunteer status is quick and easy. Simply, log in to FOCUS using your volunteer User ID and Password. Your User ID is “v.” followed by your last name, first initial (e.g. v.smithp). Your Password is your last name (capitalize the first letter) followed by your four digit year of birth (e.g. Smith2012). You will then be prompted to answer a few quick questions. Need some help? If so, then be sure to stop by the front office. Ms. Johnson will be glad to help you out!

Greetings Bay Point Families,

Please join us this Friday evening (Nov. 11, 6-8pm) in the cafeteria for Family Movie Night. We will be showing The Angry Birds Movie. Admission is free. The popcorn is free. It should be lots of fun! Remember to bring blankets and pillows, if your child would like to sprawl out on the floor and watch the movie with their friends.

Did you know that November is Florida Family Engagement month? Our PTA at Bay Point Elementary wants to engage you by asking for your feedback. Please tell us…

  • What types of events/programs would you like for PTA to offer this spring?
  • Does anybody have a great Spring Fundraising idea?
  • How can we best show our appreciation for Bay Point’s hardworking teachers?
  • How can we best support our students?

Remember, being engaged also means staying informed. How do you find out what’s happening at BPE? Do you ask your child what’s going on and check their backpacks regularly for informational flyers? Do you take the time to listen to the school’s Connect-Ed phone calls? Have you ever checked the calendar on the school’s website to see what’s coming up this week and next? Do you ‘Follow Us’ on Facebook?

Here’s a little tidbit that I’d like to share. How many of you know that you can sign up to receive electronic versions of flyers? The process is actually very easy. Just go to the school’s website (http://www.pcsb.org/baypoint-es) and click on the ‘Peachjar eflyers’ icon to register.

A few more helpful ways for you to stay engaged…

  • You can Join PTA and become a member.
  • You can serve on a PTA committee (Activities, Programs, Fundraising, Hospitality, T-shirts). We need your fresh ideas and enthusiasm to help plan our spring activities and events!
  • You can volunteer to lend a hand at one or our many events.
  • Most importantly, though, we want for you and your family to participate in our activities and events.

Hope to see you all Friday night!

Greetings Bay Point Families,

This is it! Friday (Oct. 14th) is the big day! Please join us at the school between 5:30-8:30pm that evening for our annual FALL FESTIVAL.

Remember that admission is free, but tickets are required for our many activities (carnival games, crafts, face painting, bounce houses) and to buy food. Tickets can be purchased outside at the main car line Monday – Thursday of this week between 8-8:30am and 2:30-3pm at a discounted rate of $5 for 25 tickets or during the event for $5 for 20 tickets. We accept cash and checks only.

Thanks to everyone that has already signed up to give 1-hour of your time to help make this night safe and fun for all. We are truly grateful for your support! However, we still need more than 40 volunteers, so please consider signing up here or contact us at VolunteerCoordinator@bpepta.org. Please remember that this event is 100% volunteer driven and more importantly…it is for our children!

This year, we’re excited to offer several old, fan-favorites as well as some new activities like…

  • The Infamous Teacher Flush Tank – 3 balls = 3 chances to get your teacher all wet! Thank you teachers for being such great sports!
  • BBQ pulled pork/chicken sandwiches will be offered, once again, courtesy of the Haugabook family, and NEW this year – hot dogs/sausages by the Dennard family and chicken tenders from PDQ . Yum!
  • NEW: Gallagher’s will be there selling pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. Thank you Gallagher family for donating a portion of your proceeds to our PTA!
  • NEW: Visit the Title I booth to learn more about what this federal program means for our school and receive a FREE book!

Greetings Bay Point Elementary Families,

I don’t know about you, but October is one of my favorite months of the year. By now, the kids have settled into their school routines, the humidity is beginning to drop, and the holiday season is just around the corner. This is also a very exciting time of year for our school. We have lots of PTA events and activities to share with you this month:

  • Oct. 5th – Please join us for National Walk-to-School Day to help promote safety and the benefits of walking. Door prizes and refreshments will be provided.
  • Oct. 7th BPE Uniform T-shirts/Sweat jackets available for purchase outside the main car line gate during morning drop-off.
  • Oct. 10th – Our Sunshine Math Program begins! Does your student still want to sign up? If so, it’s not too late. Registration forms for this voluntary math enrichment program can be obtained in the front office or upon request.
  • Oct. 14th PTA FALL FESTIVAL – Fun, fun, fun for the entire family!!!!

Did you know that Fall Festival is our largest event of the year and quite possibly the most popular? Our students get so excited watching our volunteers set it up. If you’ve never been…you won’t want to miss it! We’ll have carnival games, bounce houses, and a photobooth outside in the courtyard areas along with lots of great food, including BBQ pulled pork/chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, sno-cones, and popcorn. Be sure to also join us inside the cafeteria that night for face painting, crafts, and if you dare – our Spooky Science activities. This year’s activities will include Zombie Slime, Haunted Screaming Cups, Dancing Ghosts, Floating Orbs, and more!

Tickets for the festival can be purchased in advance at a discounted rate of $5 for 25 tickets both before and after school next week (Oct. 10-13th) outside at the main car line. Tickets will also be sold during the event, but at $5 for 20 tickets, so we encourage you to get them early and save money!

Did you know that it takes more than 100 volunteers to make this event a success? We ask that you please consider volunteering 1-hour of your time to help make this night safe and fun for all. Remember, anybody can volunteer – parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even older siblings. If you are available to help out, then please sign-up in the front office, sign-up on-line (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0f4daaac2faaff2-2016 ), or send us an e-mail (VolunteerCoordinator@bpepta.org). We can’t wait to hear from you and to see you at the festival!

Have a wonderful week,

Greetings Bay Point Elementary Families,

Our SaveAround Coupon Book Fall Fundraiser officially ended this past Friday. However, based on popular demand, we decided to extend the deadline for one more week until this Friday, September 23rd.

If you are still interested in placing an order, please send $25 per book in an envelope addressed to ‘PTA’ that includes your student’s name, grade, and teacher. We accept cash and checks made payable to ‘BPE-PTA’. Alternatively, if you prefer to use a credit card, you may place your order on-line at http://www.supportourgroups.com/GN/98831. Remember, PTA keeps 50% of the proceeds, so how great is that? You get to save big with the coupons, while at the same time helping out our school!

If do not wish to place an order, we totally understand. However, we ask that you to please, please, please return your sample book by this Friday to prevent our PTA from getting charged.

For any questions or concerns, please contact Lynn Gordon (PTA Fundraising Chair) at Fundraising@bpepta.org.

We thank you kindly for your support!

Greetings Bay Point Elementary families,

Our PTA Ice Cream Social/General Meeting has been rescheduled for this Thursday, September 15th and will take place in the cafeteria immediately after the school’s Title I Meeting/Open House (5:30-6:30pm). Please join us that night to learn more about PTA, purchase BPE uniform t-shirts, and get to know your fellow BPE families while enjoying a tasty ice cream sundae.

As part of our General Meeting, we will be asking members to vote on our proposed budget. Yes, the many events (Fall Festival, Fiesta Night, Publix Math Night, Science Fair Night), programs (Sunshine Math and Reflections Art), and activities (Teacher Appreciation Week, Fifth Grade Celebration) that we coordinate each year do cost money. Also, we wish to support our students in other ways this year, such as by purchasing technology items and curriculum tools and sponsoring author visits, holiday celebrations, and the Panther Bucks rewards program.

With this in mind, I would like to gently remind families about our ongoing PTA Fall Fundraiser (Sept. 6-16). If you are new to our school, PTA organizes two fundraisers each year, and we rely on these funds to support our activities. Last week, your child should have received a Save Around coupon book and order form in their backpack along with information about our exciting prize program. If you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to please take a look. These fabulous coupon books offer hundreds of discounts at both local and national businesses, promising to save your family tons of money.

Just a few important reminders about this fundraiser:

  1. Order forms and payment are due this Friday (September 16th)
  2. Please return any unsold coupon books or PTA will be charged.

Have a wonderful week!

Greeting Bay Point Elementary families,

Don’t forget that the Meet-the-Teacher event is this Tuesday, August 9th. This is a great opportunity to take your child to meet their new teacher and see their new classroom before school starts. There will be two sessions: 2:00-2:20pm and 2:30-2:50pm.

Our hard-working PTA volunteers will be inside the cafeteria selling BPE uniform t-shirts and other merchandise that day, so be sure to stop by to say ‘hello’ and stock up. This is also a perfect time to purchase your 2016-2017 PTA membership ($6). Remember, joining PTA not only provides invaluable support for our school, but also provides you with many benefits, including discounts to Legoland Florida, Staples, Hertz, and more!!! Just a friendly reminder, we can accept cash and checks only. Also, if you’re available to help us out that day, please let me know. What’s the old saying? Oh yes, ‘many hands make light work!’

Welcome back!

Greetings Bay Point Elementary families,

Is everybody enjoying their summer? I hope so!  Can you believe that our wonderful teachers head back to work next week? Yes, they have lots to do to prepare for another year of teaching our little ones their ABC’s and 123’s. Please join us as we show them our love by providing a Welcome Back Breakfast (Tuesday, August 2nd).

Our PTA is seeking food/drink donations of any kind to help make this breakfast a success. We invite you to break out that special family recipe or stop by your local bakery/donut shop to pick up something yummy they will enjoy.

If you are able to donate an item or are willing to help with set-up, please contact our Hospitality Chair, Talya Redinger (3Redingers@gmail.com; 727-519-8873). Donations can be dropped off at the school on Monday (8am-2pm) or Tuesday (7:30-8am).

Thank you for your support!
