Our Family Fun & Color Run event is this Friday (April 15th) from 5:30-7:30pm on the school’s PE field. We hope that you’re getting excited. We certainly are! There will be lots of free activities to enjoy, including a bounce house, crafts, sports inflatable, face painting, and fitness activities. We’ll also have several food vendors for when you get hungry and free raffle drawings for students with lots of terrific prizes donated by area health/fitness businesses and organizations.

The Color Run itself will begin at 6:15pm. Students that participated in our recent Color-a-thon fundraiser are already registered for the run and just need to check-in that night to get their wristband. Otherwise, the cost is $10 for the first student and $5 for each additional family member. Please remember that we can accept cash or checks only on the night of the event. Also, proceeds from this fundraiser and event will benefit PTA programs, events, and other activities. What better way to support our school than by promoting health and fitness!!!

Also taking place this Friday is the monthly All Pro Dad’s breakfast. Dads are invited to join their children for a wonderful breakfast and learning event with group sponsor Mr. Angulo. Please RSVP (www.AllProDad.com/3578) no later than the Thursday, if you plan to attend this event.

The Science Fair Open House is also coming up soon, and will take place on Thursday, April 28th from 6-8pm in the cafeteria. Classroom science projects for grades K-2nd and individual science projects for grades 3rd-5th will be on display. Chick-fil-a will be there, if you would like to purchase dinner. Hands-on science activities centered on this year’s theme (‘Ride the Tide’) will be offered. Volunteers from Boyd Hill Nature Park and Friends of Weedon Island will bring some live critters to ooh and awe over. Teachers and staff from Bay Point Middle School will be also be there and always offer an exciting science activity. Come see for yourself why BPE is proud to be a Science Magnet school!

I hope everybody’s first week of school went well and that you and your family are slowly easing back into the swing of things. Your PTA board has been working especially hard these past few weeks in order to bring you a fantastic array of events and programs over the next few months.

First though, I’d like to say a quick ‘thank you’ to all those families that joined us last Monday for our annual Boo-Hoo breakfast. It was absolutely wonderful meeting so many of our newest BPE families and surprisingly….not a single tear was shed as they parted ways with their precious little kindergarteners! PTA welcomes all our new families with open arms and we hope you will enjoy BPE as much as we do.

So mark your calendars because September is going to be a busy month. We have:

  •  T-shirts available for purchase on Friday, Sept. 4th 8:05-8:35am at the main car line gate
  •  PTA Board Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8th 6:00-7:00pm in the media center
  •  Ice Cream Social/PTA General Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15th 6:00-7:30pm in the cafeteria

Now, I know that summer is still going strong (seriously, can it get any hotter? and wetter?), but our Fall Fundraiser is set to begin this Thursday, September 3rd. Once again, we’ll be offering the Glacier “Sweet Temptations” brochure featuring a delicious array of the best-tasting cookie dough, as well as cheesecakes, pizzas, soups, Auntie Anne’s pretzel products and more. We’ll also be offering a second brochure with stylish and eco-friendly Love Bags (www.lovebags.com) as well. Be sure to stop by the front office before the sale ends on September 17th, if you would like to see some samples.

Did you know that over the past two years, the cookie dough fundraiser has raised more than $22,000 for our school?!? Give yourselves a pat on the back, because without your support this could not have happened. The money raised helps support many of the PTA events, activities, and programs that your child participates in every year. Also, a large chunk of funds we raise goes towards providing educational support to our teachers and enhancing technology resources (e.g. iPads, laptop computers, Kindles, etc.). Please support this fundraiser and help us reach our goal this year of $12,000.
